A Classic, Romantic Milwaukee Wedding at Discovery World
This downtown Milwaukee wedding was especially meaningful to us, as it marked the third time we had the honor of partnering with this incredible family. We first worked with the eldest son and his wife in 2021, followed by the middle son and his wife in 2023, and now the youngest child and only daughter, Leslie, and her husband, Mark, in 2024. What an extraordinary privilege it has been to plan and execute weddings for all three of this family’s children! They called Heather their official family wedding planner!
Leslie and Mark’s love story is nothing short of a Hollywood romance. They grew up as next-door neighbors, playing together from birth through preschool. Their wedding even featured adorable photos of them as toddlers frolicking in the leaves. However, life took them in different directions when Leslie’s family moved away during their early childhood, and the two lost touch.
Fast-forward about 20 years, and fate had a surprise in store. Like many young adults, they turned to dating apps, both frustrated with the modern dating scene. One day, they unknowingly matched with someone from their past. After swiping right and striking up a conversation, they went on a few dates and quickly realized they were reconnecting with their childhood playmate. Their story came full circle, proving that some connections are simply meant to be.
Leslie and Mark envisioned a wedding that was classic, elegant, and romantic. Their timeless black-and-white color palette was beautifully softened with touches of Leslie’s favorite hue: blush pink. The day began at the Westin Hotel, where the couple got ready separately with their closest friends and family. Instead of a traditional first look, they shared heartfelt private vows around a corner at Old St. Mary’s Parish, ensuring they didn’t see each other before the ceremony.
The traditional Catholic ceremony was joyful and filled with love. Afterward, the couple captured stunning photos around Downtown Milwaukee, with the rainy day adding an extra layer of romantic charm.
The celebration continued at the breathtaking Pilot House at Discovery World. The skies cleared just in time for Leslie and Mark to take gorgeous lakefront sunset photos, skillfully captured by Autumn Silva Photography. Guests enjoyed tray-passed appetizers and cocktails on the veranda, courtesy of Bartolotta Catering, before being seated for dinner. The room was beautifully decorated with soft blush pink and pearl-colored linens from Windy City Linen, complemented by stunning floral arrangements from Jane Kelly Floral. The flowers perfectly captured Leslie’s vision of soft, romantic elegance. Flickering candlelight added a warm glow, creating an absolutely magical atmosphere.
Heartfelt speeches highlighted Leslie and Mark’s fairytale love story, followed by their enchanting first dance on a black-and-white checkered dance floor beneath twinkling string lights. The Bluewater Kings Band kept the energy high all night, and Leslie wowed in a stunning party dress, perfect for dancing the night away. The evening ended on an unforgettable note with a spectacular fireworks display over the lakefront—an incredible finale to a perfect day.
As we wrapped up, we couldn’t help but feel immense gratitude for being part of this family’s most cherished moments. And yes, maybe a little sadness that they don’t have a fourth child for us to partner with!
