I was sad when Larissa and James’ wedding was over…legitimately sad. I pride myself on forming connections with all of my clients and working hard on getting to know them. But these two…they were so special to me! Larissa and James were planning their Modern Milwaukee Wedding from their new home in Dallas, Texas. With his family out of state, and Larissa’s family hours away in Northern Wisconsin, they needed to hire someone local in Milwaukee to help them plan, design and execute the big day. So, they hired us and we are so glad they did!
We worked together for 18 months planning the couple’s dream wedding. When asked about their vision, they stated they wanted a classy, fun, modern, summer wedding with an indoor outdoor feel. This is why they chose Vista in Downtown Milwaukee. The venue’s glass and modern decor, along with the amazing patio boasting the BEST skyline views in the city, provided a gorgeous backdrop for their intimate ceremony and reception.
Larissa and James trusted us to guide them through choosing the perfect vendors and it was purely magic. We beautifully planned the day and executed stellar logistics (if we say so ourselves LOL). They got ready at the Saint Kate Hotel and did their first look there. Then the wedding party boarded a shuttle that took them to the lakefront and the Third Ward where they took photos. The ceremony was held on Vista’s gorgeous third floor patio which overlooks downtown Milwaukee. Drew from Flowers for Dreams designed a gorgeous alter piece that was two columns of flowers instead of an arch that would obstruct the skyline views (notice how we moved these floral columns to their sweetheart table after the ceremony…maximize that decor and floral budget people).
Guests then moved downstairs to the second floor at Vista for cocktails and also appetizers by Zilli Hospitality Group while the vendor team swiftly turned the ceremony set up into the gorgeous reception set up. After cocktail hour, we brought Larissa and James up to the third floor for a private room reveal. This is one of our favorite parts of the wedding day! Guests we asked the guests to make their way upstairs to be seated for dinner.
They were greeted by a “Sip and Be Seated” champagne wall that was constructed by the very talented father of the groom. Guests grabbed a glass of champagne which also held a card that showed their table assignment. All enjoyed a delicious plated meal by Zilli, and then the group packed the dance floor with Sound by Design until midnight when they made their way to the first level of the building, Deer Camp, for the after party!
We miss them and wish we could relive their wedding day over and over again! Congratulations, Larissa and James! It was an honor and a privilege to be a part of your planning process and big day also!
